Aurora takes down Coe in 3 sets
Aurora swept Coe 25-12, 25-15, 25-11 on September 4, 2026, at Thornton Gymnasium in Aurora, Illinois, to improve to 2-1 on the season.
The attack efficiency gap told the story: Aurora hit .356 as a team compared to Coe's .020, a margin that never really closed across any of the three sets. The Spartans also held a commanding 6-1 advantage in aces, while out-digging Coe 50-34. Set one established the tone early, with Aurora posting a .448 hitting percentage to Coe's -.029. Coe tightened things up slightly in set two, hitting .086, but Aurora's .250 efficiency was more than enough to stay ahead.
Izabella Kowalczyk led all players with 12 kills on an impressive .667 clip, adding two block assists for 13.0 points. Katelyn Ruse and Rosie Karl each contributed nine kills, with Ruse also chipping in eight digs. Trinity Nelson ran the Aurora offense with 34 assists and three service aces, while libero Katie Brisk anchored the back row with 19 digs. For Coe, Abi Bowe paced the visitors with six kills.
In set two, Trinity Nelson rattled off three consecutive service aces as part of a 6-0 Aurora run that pushed the Spartans from a 9-9 tie to a commanding 9-15 lead, effectively closing the door on any Coe momentum.
The win moves Aurora to 2-1 overall.
