Aurora takes down North Park in 3 sets

Aurora swept North Park 25-14, 25-20, 25-19 on Tuesday, September 16 at Thornton Gymnasium in Aurora, Illinois, improving to 9-2 on the season in front of 231 fans.

Aurora's attack efficiency told the story from start to finish. The Spartans hit .297 as a team compared to North Park's flat .000, recording 41 kills to the Vikings' 25. Aurora's block unit also made a significant impact, totaling seven blocks to North Park's three — with their front row consistently disrupting the Vikings' offensive rhythm throughout all three sets. North Park did hold a notable edge in the service game, recording seven aces to Aurora's two, but it wasn't enough to offset the gap in overall offensive production.

Izabella Kowalczyk led all players with 15 kills on a .333 clip and added 17 total points for Aurora, while Katelyn Ruse contributed nine kills and 12 digs for a well-rounded performance. Peyton Darguzis anchored the Spartan block with seven total blocks. For North Park, Mercy Osayemi and Gia Sylvestre each posted seven kills, and libero Xenia Gonzales led the Vikings with 12 digs. Kendal Britton ran the North Park offense with 22 assists and added three aces.

In the opening set, Aurora reeled off a 6-0 run from 4-4 to pull ahead 10-4, a stretch that North Park never fully recovered from as the Spartans closed out the set with ease.

The win moves Aurora to 9-2 on the year as the Spartans open NACC play.
