# Aurora University tops Carroll University, 3-1

Aurora dropped the opening set but regrouped to win three straight, topping Carroll (WI) 30-32, 25-9, 25-9, 25-8 on September 26 at Sadoff Gymnasium in Fond du Lac, Wis., moving to 14-2 overall and 2-0 in NACC play.

The numbers tell the story of a sharp turnaround after Set 1\. Aurora hit .346 on the match to Carroll's .000, and the gap widened dramatically as the match progressed — the Spartans posted attack percentages of .367, .526, and .625 in Sets 2 through 4 while Carroll slipped to negative efficiency in each of those sets. Aurora also held a commanding 61-32 edge in kills and a 9-5 advantage in blocks, with the blocking pressure proving particularly costly for a Carroll attack that finished with 32 errors in 141 attempts.

Izabella Kowalczyk powered the Aurora offense with 26 kills on a .500 clip, adding nine digs for an all-around performance that anchored the Spartan attack. Katelyn Ruse contributed 11 kills and hit .375\. Trinity Nelson ran the offense with 53 assists, recorded four block assists, and anchored the back-row connection that kept Aurora's system humming throughout the final three sets. For Carroll, Audrey Rosenbaum and Clara Justice each posted seven kills to lead a short-handed offensive effort.

After splitting points through much of the extended first set, Aurora opened Set 2 on a 12-0 run — fueled by a Payton Schaefer service stretch — that effectively ended Carroll's chances of a second consecutive set win.

The victory moves Aurora to 14-2 on the season and 2-0 in NACC conference play.
