# Aurora University tops Lakeland University, 3-0

Aurora swept Lakeland 27-25, 25-18, 25-20 on Saturday afternoon at Thornton Gymnasium in Aurora, Ill., improving to 18-2 overall and 4-0 in NACC play. Lakeland falls to 10-7 on the season.

Aurora held a clear edge at the net, registering 49 kills on a .194 attack percentage compared to Lakeland's 38 kills at .127\. The Spartans' efficiency climbed as the match progressed — Aurora hit .286 in the third set after opening at just .106 — while Lakeland never surpassed .178 in any frame. Aurora also led in digs, 77 to 64, and out-assisted the Muskies 46 to 37\. Lakeland held an edge in aces (3-1) and blocks (7-5), but those advantages weren't enough to offset the kill and efficiency gap.

Izabella Kowalczyk led all players with 20 kills on a .228 clip, adding a match-high 22.5 points and a team-best 9 digs to anchor Aurora's attack. Rosie Karl contributed 13 kills at an impressive .440 percentage, while setter Trinity Nelson distributed 40 assists and chipped in 13 digs. For Lakeland, Maleigha Kovalaske finished with a match-high 16 kills (.273) and 9 digs, giving her team a consistent offensive option throughout all three sets.

Set one featured a late-set run by Lakeland — the Muskies rallied from 14-19 to tie the set at 25-25 — before Aurora closed it out 27-25 on consecutive Kowalczyk kills. The win moves Aurora to 18-2 on the season.
