Aurora University tops North Central College, 3-0

Aurora swept North Central (IL) 3-0 (25-15, 26-24, 25-15) on Tuesday evening at Thornton Gymnasium in Aurora, IL, moving to 6-1 on the season while the Cardinals fall to 2-3.

The attack efficiency gap tells the story: Aurora hit .246 for the match compared to North Central's .074, outslugging the Cardinals 42 kills to 33. The Spartans also held a clear edge in serve pressure, posting five aces to NCC's one, and matched North Central in the blocks column 5-2. Both teams dug deep defensively — Aurora led that category 62-57 — but it was NCC's 23 attack errors that kept them from sustaining any momentum.

Rosie Karl led all players with 13 kills on a .313 clip and added three block assists for Aurora, while setter Trinity Nelson orchestrated the offense with 32 assists and 15 digs. Katelyn Ruse contributed nine kills and 10 digs to round out a balanced Spartan attack. For North Central, Abby Buban carried the offensive load with 16 kills, though she was limited to a .222 efficiency on the night.

Set 2 provided the closest contest of the evening, with the Cardinals rallying to tie it at 22-22 and 23-23 before Aurora closed on a 3-1 run to take the set 26-24 and maintain their sweep.

The win moves Aurora to 6-1 on the season.
