Elmhurst defeated Luther 3-1 (29-31, 25-21, 25-23, 25-19) on Saturday, September 19 at the R. John Buuck Field House in Mequon, Wis., dropping the Norse in their fourth straight match.

Elmhurst held the kill advantage throughout, finishing with 63 kills on a .175 attack percentage compared to Luther's 45 kills at .128\. The Bluejays were especially effective in the final two sets, posting a .192 clip in the third and .200 in the fourth while holding Luther to .122 and .000 over the same stretch. Digs were plentiful on both sides — Elmhurst logged 96 to Luther's 81 — but it was Elmhurst's sustained offensive efficiency in the closing sets that proved decisive. Aces were nearly even at 7 (Luther) to 6 (Elmhurst), and blocks finished level at 7 apiece.

Katie Hurta paced all players with 20 kills on a standout .405 attack percentage for Elmhurst, while Samantha Webb added 13 kills and 14 digs. Freddie Temple quarterbacked the offense with 32 assists and 13 digs. For Luther, Kylie Zeigler led the Norse with 16 kills, and Ruby Gerhard contributed 11 kills and 20 digs, with Iris Elias matching Gerhard's 20 digs while distributing 28 assists.

Set one featured a late Elmhurst run that erased a Luther lead and forced extra points, but the Norse closed it out 31-29 behind a service ace from Ella Goodnight. Elmhurst answered by outscoring Luther 25-19 in the decisive fourth set.

The win moves Elmhurst to 6-5 on the season, while Luther falls to 2-12.
