# Illinois Wesleyan University tops Greenville University, 3-1

Then-No. 6 Illinois Wesleyan dispatched Greenville 25-20, 25-11, 24-26, 25-18 on Saturday evening at the Shirk Center in Bloomington, Ill., moving to 12-1 on the season before CCIW play begins.

The Titans held a decisive edge across the board, posting 63 kills to Greenville's 38 and hitting .287 as a team compared to the Panthers' .162\. Illinois Wesleyan's attack efficiency was particularly sharp in sets one, two, and four (.342, .344, .389), though the Panthers flipped the script in set three, hitting .317 to IWU's .114 to steal the set 26-24\. Greenville also edged the block count 7-4, but IWU offset that with a 69-48 advantage in digs and an 11-9 edge in aces.

Eleanor Palmer led all players with 15 kills on a .522 hitting percentage for the Titans, while Carly Whitaker added 11 kills and Alex Bardouniotis contributed 10 kills, 15 digs, and 1 ace for a well-rounded night. Setters Sophia Feeney (21 assists, 4 aces) and Lauren O'Brien (24 assists, 4 aces) each drove IWU's offense and combined for all eight of the team's aces from the service line. For Greenville, Kennedy Legendre paced the Panthers with 9 kills, and libero Claudia Bonacorsi anchored the back row with 13 digs.

In set three, Greenville used a late 7-0 run — capped by a Brooke-Lynn Mapa service ace to tie it 24-24 — to overcome a 16-21 deficit and force extra points before closing out the set 26-24.

The win moves Illinois Wesleyan to 12-1 on the season as CCIW conference play gets underway.
