Illinois Wesleyan University tops Hendrix, 3-0

No. 8 Illinois Wesleyan swept Hendrix 25-19, 25-14, 25-17 on Saturday morning at the Shirk Center in Bloomington, Ill., moving to 4-0 on the young season.

The Titans' attack efficiency was the defining factor all afternoon. Illinois Wesleyan hit .303 as a team to Hendrix's .163, and the gap only widened as the match progressed — IWU posted a .318 clip in set two and .355 in set three while the Warriors struggled to find their footing offensively. The Titans also held a commanding 9-2 edge in aces and a 6-3 advantage in blocks, limiting Hendrix's opportunities throughout. Hendrix's libero Faith Jones kept the Warriors competitive with 19 digs, but the service pressure from the IWU side proved too consistent to overcome.

Alex Bardouniotis led all players with 14 points on 10 kills, two aces, and three blocks for the Titans, while Eleanor Palmer added 12 points on nine kills and a match-high five blocks. Sophia Feeney ran the offense with 15 assists and chipped in five aces from the service line. For Hendrix, Camryn Kennedy paced the attack with eight kills, and Jones finished with 19 digs.

Feeney opened set one with four consecutive service aces to push IWU to a 4-0 lead, setting the tone for a match the Titans never relinquished.

The win moves Illinois Wesleyan to 4-0 on the season.
