Loras College tops Greenville University, 3-2

Loras took a five-set decision over Greenville on September 4, 2026, at Sherman Gymnasium in Jacksonville, Ill., winning 20-25, 25-22, 25-18, 18-25, 15-12 to improve to 1-2 on the season.

Loras held an edge in aces — 11 to Greenville's 5 — a gap that proved significant in the second set, where McKenna Carroll rattled off three consecutive aces to help flip a 16-14 deficit into a 23-16 lead. Attack efficiency was nearly even overall (.282 for Loras, .286 for Greenville), but Loras swung to a .353 clip in set three and a blistering .524 in the decisive fifth, while Greenville finished set five at .450 — both teams sharpening late. Greenville held the blocking edge, 8 to 5.

Cydney Tath led all players with 27 kills and added 16 digs for a standout all-around line, with Isabel Hart distributing 48 assists to anchor the Loras offense. Cat Meyer contributed 16 kills and 10 digs for Loras, while Abby Grohmann paced Greenville with 16 kills and 10 digs of her own.

Loras' early five-set push was shaped by a 5-0 run to open set three — highlighted by back-to-back Tath kills — that set the tone after Greenville had leveled the match at one set apiece.

The win moves Loras to 1-2 on the season.
