Mount St. Joseph University tops Aurora University, 3-1

Mt. St. Joseph (MSJ) defeated Aurora 3-1 (19-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-23) on September 12, 2026, at the Spurlock Center in Franklin, Indiana, to improve to 7-1 on the season.

The Lions held a decisive edge in serving, posting eight aces to Aurora's two — a gap that helped offset a relatively tight kill differential (52-45). MSJ hit .161 overall compared to Aurora's .126, but the set-by-set attack numbers tell the sharper story: in Set 3, MSJ swung at a .419 clip while Aurora managed just .033, effectively turning that frame into a runaway. Set 4 was a grind for both sides — each team posted nearly identical attack percentages (.026 and .028) — but MSJ's steadiness down the stretch carried the day.

Grace Crider led all players with 16 kills on a .371 hitting percentage and added two aces for MSJ, while Aubrey Miranda contributed 10 kills in support. Setter Ginger Johnson orchestrated the offense with 28 assists. For Aurora, Katelyn Ruse and Rosie Karl each posted 10 kills, and libero Katie Brisk anchored the back row with 22 digs.

In Set 4, Aurora used a 4-0 run to push ahead 19-12, but MSJ answered with a 7-0 surge to tie it at 19-19 before closing out the match.

The win moves Mt. St. Joseph to 7-1 overall and 1-0 in HCAC play.
