University of Wisconsin-La Crosse tops Loras College, 3-0
Wisconsin-La Crosse swept Loras 25-14, 27-25, 25-11 on Saturday, September 26 at Mitchell Hall in La Crosse, Wis., to hand the Duhawks a straight-set loss in front of 150 fans.
The attack efficiency gap tells the story clearly: UWL finished the match at .271 to Loras's .111, with the Eagles particularly sharp in Sets 1 and 3, posting attack percentages of .538 and .400, respectively. Wisconsin-La Crosse also held a 44-25 advantage in kills and doubled the Duhawks in aces, 6-3. Blocks were even at 6 apiece, making the kill and efficiency margins the clearest separation between the two sides.
Annie Werner led all players with 11 kills on a .429 clip and added three blocks for UWL, while Ali Dehnicke contributed 10 kills and eight digs. Libero Megan Jasperson anchored the back row with a match-high 17 digs and two aces. For Loras, Cat Meyer posted a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs to go along with a team-high .450 attack percentage, and Isabel Hart distributed 13 assists.
In Set 2, UWL reeled off seven consecutive points to turn an 11-17 deficit into an 11-18 hole for Loras, then later overcame a 25-23 Loras lead to close out the set 27-25.
The win moves Wisconsin-La Crosse to 6-7 on the season, while Loras falls to 6-10.
